Oil on panel - "Uncle Bruce"* 710mm x 510mm framed) is an exploration of childhood heroes and their changing nature as you and they get older. The subject is my older brother, an ex British paratrooper and police detective, who now in retirement finds most of his time occupied by caring for his grandchildren which allows his children to work and pursue their careers. One of our children once thought he looked like the actor George Clooney in his role as Batman, hence the name uncle Bruce. The portrait portrays a childhood hero (one of mine) and his changing nature as time passes, still heroic, but in perhaps different way.
