To see a world in a plastic orange
Oil on panel - (285mm x 230mm) "To see a world in a plastic orange" is a study in shade; something which is intensely difficult and one I still need a lot of practice in. The photograph is of a friend's beautiful little girl staring intently at a plastic orange. It was a beautiful image and I loved the luminescence of the orange as the light caught it over her shoulder, but left the face largely in shade. The wording and title are a play on the words from poet William Blake: "to see a world in a grain of sand".
